Snowboard Lessons


Lessons are taught at different levels to individuals, groups and families. We teach our snowboarders in the following age groups:

  • Adult 16 years +

  • Junior 10 - 15 years

  • Snowboard instruction is not available below 10 years

What will I learn?

Lessons are structured on a skill level system, graded A - F, with group lessons available from Level A - C, with Private Instruction available from Level D and up. You will receive a skill level card on your first lesson, which will be used to help monitor your progress.

The following guide explains each level and lesson content:

SNOWBOARDING LESSONS LEVEL A-F



Level A - Absolute beginner: Introduction to equipment, stance & balance

  • Snowboard and safety check
  • Basic snowboard stance
  • Walking and turning on the flat
  • Walking uphill - turning on the slope
  • Straight run (using run-out to stop)
  • Awareness of the Ski Way Code


Level B - Novice beginner: sliding

  • Slide slipping - toe and heel
  • Diagonal side slip - toe and heel


Level C - Novice: Speed & direction control, falling leaf & garlands

  • Falling leaf - toe and heel
  • Garlands - toe and heel


Once you have passed Level C you are ready to join your first open practice session and able to use both ski slopes unsupervised.


Level D - Improvers: Learning turns

  • Falling leaf - toe and heel - into fall line

  • Garlands - toe and heel - into fall line

  • Traverse - toe and heel

 

Level E - Intermediate: Complete basic turns

  • Basic turns

  • Linking turns

 

Level F - Advanced: Variety of advance turns at different speeds

  • Advanced turns

  • Advanced turns (varied radius)

 

Long sleeves, long trousers, gloves and are required for this activity.
